At Yakima Chief – Hopunion, we aim to consistently provide our customers with the highest quality hop products and promote environmentally sustainable practices throughout all operations. Our entire organization is built on the foundation of a culture of continuous improvement, and incorporates feedback from all stakeholders including hop growers, YCH personnel, and our brewing customers.
With two production facilities in Yakima and Sunnyside, Washington and more than 80 full-time dedicated operations personnel, quality and consistency are essential cornerstones for our team. All YCH HOPS products are produced within an ISO 9001 certified quality management system under the principals of Lean manufacturing. While the certifications provide structure, Lean Manufacturing provides the tools to enable our employees on the front lines of service and production to affect change, reduce waste and improve quality of work, service and product.
In 2015, as part of bringing the cultures of Yakima Chief, Inc. and Hopunion LLC together, YCH provided more than 4,000 hours of Lean manufacturing training to employees from all departments, organization wide. This included a one-day introductory workshop for all personnel followed by several focused, week-long Kaizen events to address process improvement opportunities.
