In honor of beer's agricultural roots and our amazing growers, we like to say that "great beer grows here." Each of our family-owned hop farms are as unique as the varieties they cultivate, and we take pride in being able to share their stories and tell the history of their farms. From their innovative farming techniques, to their newly expanded/updated, state-of-the-art production facilities, our growers consistently demonstrate an unparalleled commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability within the hop industry. They are dedicated to their craft and take pride in being an active component of the brewing industry as well. This direct connection to the farm not only benefits you as a brewer, but also allows us at YCH to proactively manage acreage and harvest quality based on your brewing needs. By getting to know our growers, we hope you'll feel better connected to our farms and the fields from which your hops come. It's no secret to us that quality begins in the field, and that it is our owners’ rich hop farming heritage that provides YCH with an invaluable foundation of knowledge for delivering the highest quality products, processes, and service.
[I enjoy] interacting with people that are so passionate about what they do.
Ron Brulotte and his daughter Reggie, fifth and sixth generation hop farmers, can trace their roots in the industry back to 1885. Brulotte Farms, Inc. was formally established by Ron’s father, Roland, in 1944 when the family settled in Toppenish, WA. Since then, the Brulottes have created a lasting legacy with a reputation for delivering a vast selection of premium hops. Both Ron and Reggie are active members in the industry, serving on several boards and committees for the Washington Hop Commission, Hop Research Council, and Hop Plant Protection Committees.
The Brulottes are passionate about meeting the unique needs of breweries as they constantly add diversity to their already long list of varieties grown. Brulotte Farms currently offers the largest selection available, growing more than 65 hop varieties. They embrace new innovative hops that enter the industry, and also enjoy growing older varietals such as Comet and Eroica that many new craft brewers have never seen. As the brewing industry grows, the Brulotte family works diligently to increase harvest capacity to allow for acreage expansion and the continuous flow of hop forward beers.
Ron and Reggie have both received the International Order of the Hop Award. In addition, Reggie earned top honors in the 2014 Hop Quality Group Cascade Cup for the exceptional production of Cascade hops, and was named a top finalist in 2015. The Brulottes are inspired by the passion of brewers and beer drinkers alike and enjoy supplying them with a quality, key ingredient.
