ISO 14001

ISO 14001 relates to environmental management systems (EMS). It assists organizations in achieving the intended outcome of their environmental goals by addressing impact through enhancement of environmental performance, fulfillment of compliance obligations, and achievement of environmental objectives. ISO 14001 supplies organizations with methods to approach activities within their operations that are determined to control or influence the environment from a life cycle perspective. This can include air pollution, water and sewage issues, waste management, soil contamination, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and resource use and efficiency.

By following the guidance of the EMS, an organization is able to reduce waste, lower cost, use resources more efficiently, and ensure compliance with many future environmental regulations. As an organization works towards meeting these requirements, employees have the opportunity to build cross-departmental team-working skills while improving the company’s reputation and gaining trust among stakeholders. Above all, achieving ISO 14001 helps to preserve the environment and promote sustainable practices among businesses. For more information, please visit www.ISO.org.

The International Organization for Standardization, ISO, is an independent, non-governmental membership organization and the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards in relation to products, services and systems. These internationally-recognized, market relevant standards pertain to a wide range of industries, including technology, food safety, agriculture and healthcare.

As a globally recognized set of standards for quality, safety, and efficiency, ISO certifications are instrumental in facilitating international trade. They offer many technological, economic and social benefits, including cost savings, waste reduction, increased productivity, and enhanced customer satisfaction. For consumers, ISO certifications provide the necessary assurance to know that products produced by an ISO facility are safe, efficient, and good for the environment.
